What Are Dermal Fillers?

About The Treatment

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are a non-surgical treatment that may help restore volume, soften the appearance of lines and support facial contours that can change with age, weight fluctuation, genetics and lifestyle factors. Suitability and results vary from person to person, which is why every visit at Lumina Health Hub starts with a genuine consultation personalised to your goals and situation.

In accordance with TGA guidelines, we’re unable to advertise or recommend specific filler products online. Your practitioner will discuss suitable options directly with you during your consultation.

Risks & important information

As with any medical procedure, dermal filler treatments carry risk. Possible effects may include redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness at the injection site; temporary lumps or asymmetry; and, uncommonly, infection. Rare but serious complications such as vascular occlusion can occur and require urgent medical attention. This list is general information only, is not exhaustive, and does not replace a full discussion of risks, benefits and alternatives with your practitioner. Dermal filler treatments are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

FAQs

Common questions.

No.  You’ll have a full consultation with our Nurse Practitioner before any treatment is considered.
This varies by treatment area and the individual. Your practitioner will discuss general timeframes relevant to your specific plan during your consultation, as results and longevity differ between people.
Pain tolerance varies from person to person. Numbing options can be discussed with your practitioner before treatment.

Mild swelling or bruising is possible and most people return to normal activities the same day. We generally recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and alcohol for at least 24 hours afterward – full aftercare guidance is provided at your appointment.

Because every treatment plan is different, pricing is discussed during your consultation rather than published online – this ensures you’re only ever quoted for what’s clinically appropriate for you.

No. This treatment is not performed on clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
We generally recommend treatment at least 4 weeks ahead of any event, allowing time for any swelling or bruising to fully settle.
