What Is A Women's Health Clinic

About Women’s Health

What does a women’s health clinic do?

A women’s health clinic looks after the concerns that are specific to women, or that affect women differently, across every stage of life. Instead of squeezing a complicated issue into a short appointment, a dedicated women’s health consultation gives you time to talk through symptoms, history and goals, then build a plan together.

At Lumina Health Hub, for example, care can include:

  • Women’s health checks and screening
  • Period, cycle and hormonal concerns
  • Perimenopause and menopause care
  • Fatigue, iron and thyroid testing
  • Contraception and pregnancy planning
  • Bone, heart and metabolic health

Where medication or a specific product may be part of your care, we are unable to advertise or recommend it online in line with TGA guidelines. Instead, your practitioner discusses suitable options with you during your consultation.

Our Approach

Care that is personal.

Many women know the feeling of leaving an appointment with more questions than answers. At Lumina Health Hub, we build your visit around listening first, so there is time to explain what has been happening and what matters to you.

René Adams, an experienced female Nurse Practitioner, looks after your care. She can assess, diagnose, order blood tests and imaging, prescribe where clinically appropriate and refer you to a specialist when you need one. In other words, you get joined up care from one familiar practitioner who knows your history.

Women’s health rarely sits neatly in one box. Hormones, sleep, weight, mood and energy are often connected, so your plan considers the whole picture rather than a single symptom.

Where it helps, your care can also draw on our sexual and reproductive health, general health consultations and medical weight management services.

Women’s Health Services

Personalised treatments, tailored to you.

Women's Health Checks

Women’s Health Checks

A thorough preventive check of blood pressure, bloods, weight and lifestyle factors, so we can pick up any risks early rather than late.

Periods And Hormonal Health For Women

Periods & Hormonal Health

We support heavy, painful or irregular periods, PMS and symptoms that may point to PCOS or endometriosis, then refer on when needed.

Perimenopause And Menopause Care

Perimenopause & Menopause

Because changes can start years before periods stop, we help you make sense of hot flushes, poor sleep, mood shifts and changing cycles.

Fatigue Iron And Thyroid Health For Women

Fatigue, Iron & Thyroid

When you feel tired all the time, targeted blood tests can also check iron, thyroid, vitamin D, B12 and other common causes of low energy.

Bone Heart And Healthy Ageing For Women

Bone, Heart & Healthy Ageing

As oestrogen falls, bone and heart health need more attention, so we look at your risk and plan screening that suits your age.

Sleep Stress And Wellbeing For Women

Sleep, Stress & Wellbeing

Often, poor sleep, stress and low mood sit alongside physical symptoms, so your plan considers how you feel as well as your results.

The Process

Your visit to our women’s health clinic in Brisbane, step by step.

A Caring And Personalised Approach

What to expect during your appointment.

Your first appointment at our women’s health clinic in Brisbane is a conversation, not a checklist. During your appointment, your practitioner will discuss:

Following your assessment, your practitioner may recommend blood tests or other investigations and will explain what each one is for. We also book a follow-up, so you discuss results and next steps together rather than leaving them to chance. If specialist input would help, such as a gynaecologist or women’s health physiotherapist, we arrange the referral for you.

Important information

Women’s health consultations provide assessment, investigation and management within a Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice. A single appointment may not identify every underlying issue, so further tests or a specialist referral may be recommended. Any medicines or treatments discussed carry their own risks and side effects, which your practitioner will explain in full before you decide. For independent information on women’s health and national screening programs, visit healthdirect. Prescription medicines are regulated in Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Administration. This service is not for emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 000.

Kind words.

The initial consultation was relaxed and informative. I felt no pressure at all. René was very caring and made me feel comfortable and looked after the whole way through. I’ll definitely be visiting again.
